WHAT  IS  MAN ?

 

   MAN IS:                               APPLICATION:

 

Earth-bound          Protect, conserve, and replenish earth’s resources; develop life-support systems that allow independence from earth’s environment. (Prov. 13:11, Luke 14:28)

 

Mammal                Children must be protected, loved, and nurtured by adults (parents or guardians). (Mark 10:13, Eph. 6:4)

 

Primate                  Primacy among animals means that lower life forms can be used for the benefit of man; animal experiments can be conducted (without cruelty) and harmful animals eliminated; the welfare of other primates and intelligent animals should be considered. (Gen. 9:2-3)

 

Carnivorous          Meat eating in moderate amounts should continue to be the diet of human beings, unless suitable meat substitutes are developed. (Gen. 9:3)

 

Sexual                   Determine the ideal roles of male and female persons and also areas of equal capability.  Fulfillment and accomplishment will make for a happier life.  Chastity and homosexuality are abnormalities not contributing to the preservation of the human species. (Gen. 1:27, 5:2, 1 Tim. 2:9-10, Gal. 3:28)

 

Racial                    Determine the unique potential of each race and allow equal opportunity to advancement, so that all mankind is benefitted. (Acts 17:26, Gal. 3:28, Rev. 5:9)

 

Gregarious            Broaden the family concept to include all mankind; encourage social and benevolent activities and punish deliberate anti-social behavior (vandalism, thievery) while recognizing non-social needs for privacy. (1 Tim. 5:8, Heb. 10:25, Matt. 5:46-47)

 

Aggressive            Promote competition in athletics and creative avenues; engage in a war on poverty and disease; conquer the cosmos. (Gen. 1:28, Heb. 12:1, 1 Tim. 1:18, John 14:12)

 

Humane                 To be human is to love; this emotion can be idealized into altruism, benevolence, and compassion; cruelty should be condemned as a sub-human trait. (1 Pet. 3:8, 1 John 3:17, Mark 1:41)

 

Promiscuous Monogamy should be taught as the ideal state, but polygamy should be allowed in order to preserve family units and reduce divorce rates.  Sexual dimorphism (males larger than females) indicates that a particular animal species evolved large males who could defeat other males in order to hold harems. (Matt. 19:4-5, Isa. 4:1, Matt. 25:1)

 

Prolific                  Birth control (in lieu of abortion) should be exercised to make a population fit with its territorial productivity. (Nahum 3:15-17)

 

Sensual                 The senses are all related to normal appetites that allow for pleasant gratification if not carried to excess; appreciation for beautiful things (“good taste”) should be taught. (John 10:10, 1 Cor. 10:25-26)

 

Religious               Allow for private and public devotions and meditation, and teach higher concepts of deity - free of superstition. (Ps. 95:6, Isa. 66:23, 1 Chron. 16:29, John 4:23-24)

 

Sapient                  Encourage creativity, questioning, examination, imagination, and freedom of thought.  Education should be a gradual, guided, genteel exposure to all philosophies.  The cultural evolutions of society should be directed toward better systems. (Isa. 1:18a, Matt. 7:7)

 

Evolving                Physical, mental, and spiritual development should be promoted through improved diet, clean environment, better education, peacemaking, and purified religion. (James 1:27, Eph. 4:13)

 

Self-Actualizing Allow the full potential development of every individual’s talents; develop a sense of pride without arrogance. (2 Chron. 1:10-12, John 16:13, Prov. 21:4)

 

Free Moral Agent Develop conscience and dedication to high purposes.  (Acts 23:1, Rom. 13:5, 1 Tim. 1:19, Eph. 3:11)

 

Immortal Soul Personality should develop in this life so that it can continue in the afterlife. (Gen. 1:28, Ps. 8:5)
